Keywords Search Terms should be a part of every internet marketing strategy. When you design a website, it is important to organize the keyword search terms so that right people find you online. I recommend that you do this during the initial phases of developing a website, before you think about what your site is going to look like. When you are determining your website content have a list of keywords near you so you can incorporate it into your marketing strategy.
Here are a few steps you can do to Prepare:
- Purpose: Forget about what your site is going to look like, think about what your goal is for your website. Is it to drive more traffic to your website? Or to increase online sales?
- Who are you? – Travel, Hospitality, Retail, Food and Beverage, Event Management, Social Media or whatever it is and design your keyword list for that particular industry.
- Know your Market: Analytics are wonderful. Know your listeners. Where do they live? How old are they? Women? Men? When are they online?
Let’s use my site as an example. I provide Social Media Training services but I found that no one really searches for social media training, but they do search for how to write a blog. I began exploring similar keywords. I am also marketing to businesses and start-up companies that are ready to invest time and money into their marketing strategy. I also provide event planning services to promote businesses. This is how I organized the keyword list you will find below.
If you have a travel company and provide concierge services, travel planning and event planning in Hawaii but not airplane tickets. Make sure you choose keyword searches that are specific to your services so you don’t get a bunch of requests for airline tickets. Does that make sense? Just talk your community.
When searching for keyword terms to use for my website, I found that people search not just terms such as “how to blog” or “how to write a blog,” I found that people also search for “how to do a blog” too! What is do-ing a blog anyway? Put yourself in the shoes of the consumers when create your marketing plan.
